Changing extension may damage your data, it can be unreadable. But sometimes, we have to view the extension for some reason.
Note: In Windows 7, make sure Menu Bar are displayed. Click Organize, Layout, Menu Bar.
Go to Tools and Folder Option in any directory from Explorer (My Computer, My Documents, etc). In View tab, find 'Hide extensions for knows file types' and uncheck it
